(more information)
Join us for an energizing weekend of music making as we come together to renew and refresh our passion for making and teaching music. When you arrive, unwind as you sample the Olympic Club’s brew pub fare and join in a brain-picking roundtable chat with colleagues from around the region. Bring your favorite instrument and a tune or two to share at the Friday evening jam/dance/sing-along. Musical choices need not be limited to classroom music!
Saturday sessions will include: From Art Music to Powerful Performance; PowerPoint and Technology Tidbits for the Kodály Classroom; Special Specials: Meeting the Needs of Special Education Students through Music; The Great Escape: How Tee-Tee and Tah Escaped from Behind the Iron Curtain; Tried and True Choral Tips for Young Voices; Creative Approaches to Canons and Rounds; Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue; Highlights from Kodály Certification Level I; Keys to Success with Early Childhood; and of course, lots of songs, games, and activities that help put life in your music and music in the lives of your students! Our Pacific Northwest presenters will include Genevieve Stevens-Johnson, Jane Mendenhall Smith, Janos Nagy, Lynnda Fuller PhD, Kris Van Auken, Cindy Christensen, Michelle Trapa, Lizzy Labelle, and Lucinda Dalrymple.
For those of you who attended our first NKE/SWOKE slumber party, we’ll have more great presenters from both NKE and SWOKE and we’ll have much more space to romp around in. Come join the fun, meet your colleagues, and fill your head with great musical ideas for the new school year.
